Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday, February 1 presented Union Budget 2020.
She announced an increase in customs duty on imported footwear and furniture. The finance minister also imposed health cess on the import of medical equipment.
She also proposed to cut the import duty on newsprint to five per cent. Modi government in the last budget had imposed 10 per cent basic customs duty on newsprint and lightweight coated paper.
