Shashi Tharoor anguished by scant media coverage of Kerala floods

National media coverage has been grossly inadequate compared to the gravity of the situation in Kerala, said Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. Out of water, food and electricity in some cases, Malayalis have been posting about their difficulties on social media

Congress MP for Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor on August 15, Independence Day expressed anguish at the “grossly inadequate” coverage by the national media of the flood situation in Kerala, “compared to the gravity of the situation here”.

“The flood situation here in Kerala is really bad. The national media coverage has been grossly inadequate compared to the gravity of the situation here. It is a sad reflection of the truism that the farther you are from Delhi, the less you matter in today's India,” tweeted Tharoor on Wednesday.

Tharoor is presently in his constituency Thiruvananthapuram, which though flooded and dealing with many evacuees, is still comparatively better off than many other places in Kerala. Tharoor has been visiting evacuees at temporary relief camps and tweeting about the floods across the city and state all day.
