The Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort would be reopened for public viewing from September 21, it was announced on Monday. Agra District Magistrate P.N. Singh made the announcement in a tweet.
Guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing have been circulated. While only 5,000 people would be permitted to visit the Taj daily, the Agra Fort will allow only 2,500. The two world heritage monuments were closed since March 17 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Other historical monuments like Etmauddaula's tomb, Sikandra, and Fatehpur Sikri were reopened from September 1.

Actress Rhea Chakraborty has filed a police complaint against Priyanka Singh, sister of her late boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput, including others for sharing bogus medical prescription for the late actor.
Rhea's lawyer Satish Maneshinde confirmed the news on Monday.
"Rhea Chakraborty has filed a police complaint before the Mumbai Police against Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and others for offences of forgery, NDPS Act and Tele Medicine Practice Guidelines 2020, for having sent a bogus medical prescription depicting SSR as an Out Patient Department person," said lawyer Maneshinde.

The Supreme Court was informed on Monday that Attorney General for India KK Venugopal is under self quarantine after his colleague tested positive for COVID-19.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju informed the Bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Hemant Gupta about Venugopal being in quarantine as he sought adjournment in a case concerning appointments to different tribunals.
On being informed of this development, the Bench said that it will take up the case for hearing on Tuesday, September 15.

The Delhi Police Special Cell said on Monday that it arrested two members of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), identified as Bhupender alias Dilawar Singh and Kulwant Singh, after a brief exchange of fire in the national capital.
"Six pistols and 40 cartridges were seized from their possession," said Special Cell DCP PS Kushwah.
The two alleged terrorists of the banned Sikh outfit, who hail from Ludhiana, were also wanted in some cases in Punjab, Delhi Police said.
Police is now interrogating them to know about their terror plans.

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has been given Y-plus category security by central security agencies, officials said on Monday.
The decision has been taken in view of a renewed threat to the actor after she spoke about drug use among a section in the film industry following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The home ministry has decided to accord Ranaut Y-plus category security through one of the paramilitary personnel, a home ministry official said.
The Y-plus category central cover entails deployment of about 10 armed commandos with the protectee, the official said.

A major fire broke out at a slum located in Kolkata's Narkeldanga Canal east road area on Monday morning destroying more than 100 shanties.
At least 10 fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flames with fire fighters finally taking control over the situation after nearly two hours.
According to West Bengal fire brigade sources, the fire took place at Chagolpatty due to a transformer short circuit which soon engulfed the entire area in the morning. State Fire Minister Sujit Bose also visited the spot and said nearly 25 shanties were gutted in the flames.

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted Japan's Ibaraki prefecture on Monday.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the temblor occurred at 6.34 a.m., with its epicentre at a latitude of 36.7 degrees north and a longitude of 141. 6 degrees east, and at a depth of 20 km, reports Xinhua news agency.
Authorities have not issued a tsunami warning and there were no immediate reports of injuries or damagaes.

The overall number of global coronavirus cases has surpassed the 27 million mark, while the deaths have increased to over 882,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Monday morning, the total number of cases stood at 27,002,224 and the fatalities rose to 882,053, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
The US accounted for the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 6,275,614 and 188,932 respectively, according to the CSSE.
Brazil came in the second place with 4,137,521 infections and 126,650 deaths.
In terms of cases, India ranks third (4,113,811), and is followed by Russia (1,022,228), Peru (683,702), Colombia (658,456), South Africa (638,517), Mexico (634,023), Spain (498,989), Argentina (478,792), Chile (422,510), Iran (386,658), the UK (349,500), France (347,268), Bangladesh (325,157), Saudi Arabia (320,688), Pakistan (298,509), Turkey (279,806), Italy (277,634), Iraq (260,370), Germany 251,728), Philippines (237,365), Indonesia (194,109), Ukraine (139,171), Canada (133,890), Israel (130,644), Bolivia (120,241), Qatar (120,095), Ecuador (118,045) and Kazakhstan (106,301), the CSSE figures showed.
The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are the India (70,626), Mexico (67,558), the UK (41,640), Italy (35,541), France (30,730), Spain (29,418), Peru (29,687), Iran (22,293), Colombia (21,156), Russia (17,768), South Africa (14,889) and Chile (11,592).
