Raking up the Rafale issue, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday mounted a stinging attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, saying the PM is haunted by photos of Rafale jets and Anil Ambani in his sleep.

Addressing the concluding session of the Youth Congress’ nationwide public outreach campaign, Yuva Kranti Yatra, at Talkatora stadium in Delhi, Rahul said, “Modi ji, I understand you cannot sleep in the night. I know when you sleep in the night, you see photos of Anil Ambani and Rafale jets. You see photos of martyrs of the Indian Air Force,” said Rahul.

“Voices are emerging from within the Air Force saying Modi bypassed the Air Force. Bureaucrats are saying Modi gave ₹30,000 crore of public money to Anil Ambani... The entire country knows Modi stole opportunities of the youth to give ₹30,000 crore to Anil Ambani. No one can suppress the truth about Rafale. It will come out by itself,” he added.

Referring to his meeting with former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at latter’s office in Goa, Rahul told the cheering crowd, “I met Parrikar ji. He himself conceded that he was not asked when Modi changed the original deal.” He added that Modi tries to keep Parrikar happy as latter possesses crucial files (related to Rafale deal).”

Parrikar has, however, denied Rahul’s claims, further asking the Congress President to not “politicise” the meeting between the two leaders.

“Congress is the organisation that fought the British while RSS leaders begged for mercy,” noted Rahul Gandhi

Recalling his parliament speech during the Rafale debate, the Congress president told members of the Youth Congress, “Modi could not answer his question on Rafale deal in the parliament. He looked here and there but could not look me in the eye.”

Underlining differences between the ideologies of the BJP-RSS and the Congress, Rahul said Congress protects truth while BJP and Sangh protect the lie.

“Congress is the organisation that fought the British while RSS leaders begged for mercy,” noted Rahul Gandhi.

Asking members of the Youth Congress to take his message to the people of the country ahead of the election, Rahul Gandhi said, “India has an employment and agricultural crisis, and Narendra Modi has showed that he is not capable to solve this crisis.”

“The RSS thinks they are the authority and source of knowledge in this country. They are absolutely wrong. It's the people of this country who are the source of knowledge. They wanted Congress-mukt Bharat, but even BJP leaders have told me that they want to join Congress. Congress is not just an organisation, it is a representation of the country,” said the Congress president.
