Prime Minister's Office (PMO): Union Cabinet Secy today reviewed the progress made in arrangements to control air pollution in National Capital Region. It was observed that cases of crop stubble burning in Punjab & Haryana still continue & there is a need for more focused action. These states have been directed that more monitoring teams should be deployed on the field to ensure that violators are taken to task by imposing suitable penalties. The states have also been directed to ensure that they are fully prepared for meeting any exigency in future.

Two Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Tuesday, police said.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it would consider the fresh audio clip in which Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is purportedly referring to 17 rebel Cong-JD(S) MLAs, who had been disqualified.
A three-judge bench headed by Justice N V Ramana said since the issue has been brought to its notice the apex court would consider it. However, the bench did not specify whether it would take on record the audio clip.

The United States has formally notified the United Nations of its withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, a global agreement in which President Donald Trump's predecessor Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had played instrumental roles.
Although Trump had announced his decision to withdraw from the historic Paris Agreement on climate change on June 1, 2017, the process began on Monday with the formal notification and the US will be out of the pact on November 4, 2020.

Turkey captured the sister of dead ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Monday in the northern Syrian town of Azaz, a senior Turkish official told Reuters, and is interrogating her husband and daughter-in-law who were also detained.
