The prohibitory orders issued by authorities amidst fresh spike in Covid cases could not dampen people’s spirits who celebrated Holi as usual, without wearing face masks or minding physical distancing.

As Covid-19 cases surged, several state governments had last week issued directions prohibiting public celebration of Shab-e-Barat and Holi, fearing that crowding may result in rapid spread of the disease.

However, a large number of people seemed to not care for the guidelines or the fear of Covid spread and indulged in revelry.

India has been recording over 40,000 cases every day since the last week and experts fear a possible second wave hitting the country.
