Only 50 tourists allowed at Kempty Falls

Uttarakhand Govt has announced no more than 50 tourists at a time, no stay at Kempty Falls beyond 30 minutes

Uttarakhand Govt has announced no more than 50 tourists at a time, no stay at Kempty Falls beyond 30 minutes.

After a video showing numerous tourists taking a splash at Mussoorie’s Kempty falls, without wearing masks and maintaining social distancing norms, went viral, the authorities have decided to limit the number of visitors.

The latest order reads that no more than 50 tourists can gather at the spot, and they can not stay there beyond half an hour. Moreover, a check-post will also be set up in the area for monitoring tourist activity.

The Union government had earlier, too, issued warnings against overcrowding at popular tourist destinations across India, but it seems to be having little effect on tourists.

Days ago, pictures of overcrowded streets emerged on social media from Manali with zero regard for physical distancing norms.

Notably, the Union ministry of health and family welfare had issued a warning against ‘revenge travel’ and overcrowding of these tourist spots.

Apart from Uttarakhand, more than five lakh tourists - flocked in Himachal Pradesh as well after the Covid norms were relaxed due to the dip in Covid-19 cases which led to huge crowd of people from other states.

A few days ago, pictures of crowded streets and maskless people in Dharamshala had also gone viral.

Stunned by the videos, many took jibes at the carelessness of the public, saying that if citizens don’t learn their lessons, the third wave of Covid-19 is not far away.
