Woman creates ‘social distancing dress’ with a 6-ft radius!

The idea of 'social distancing' may not be something you have heard of until the recent COVID-19 pandemic. You see many people have started practicing social distancing as it helps to reduce opportunities for disease transmission. Influenced by the current circumstances, Instagram user Shay has made a ‘social distancing dress’ with a 6ft radius! Shay took two months to design this creation.

Shay initially shared information about her new project, the ‘social distancing dress’ on her Instagram account at the end of September. She shared a video and captioned it as: “New project - making a social distancing dress, with a 6ft radius! So it’s like your own little social distancing bubble.”

She further wrote: “I’ve only just started making this dress and it’s already been quite the journey - this is attempt #3 at making the hoopskirt. I finally got a version that can (mostly) hold the shape, though I ended up making it about 2x too long”.

Shay kept sharing posts about how much progress she had made over the months. In another video post, she wrote: “Now that the shape and structure is there the rest of it should just be making it pretty/a wearable dress (while still keeping it lightweight)”.

On November 20, Shay shared a post showing her ‘social distancing dress’ and wrote: “The social distancing dress is DONE!!! It took 300+ yards of tulle, 2 months to make, and a whole lot of trial and error. this dress definitely isn’t perfect (yes I know you can see the wheels) but it’s done, and I am really proud of it!.”

Shay is winning hearts on social media following her dashing creation. Since being shared on Instagram, Shay’s post has accumulated over 1.6 lakh likes and many appreciative comments.
