In the wake of a grenade attack on the religious congregation of the Nirankaris at the 'Nirankari Bhawan' in Amritsar on Sunday afternoon, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Chandigarh Administration VP Singh Badnore have asked the Chandigarh Police to be on high alert and ensure complete security to the people at the religious places especially the Nirankari Missions in and around the city.

Condemning the grenade attack in which four persons were killed and 20 were injured, the governor termed the act as a dastardly and cowardly attack on the peaceful congregation.

After taking stock of the situation, he said that the Punjab police was fully equipped and strong enough to tackle any such incidents. As in past too, the state police were able to nab the culprits involved in the targeted killings of the RSS State Vice President Brig. Jagdish Gagneja and RSS leader Ravinder Gosain.

Recalling the dark days of the Militancy in the 1980s and 90s, the Governor said that the worst kind of militancy was fought back successfully by the brave Punjab Police force.

Badnore also said that the forces inimical to Punjab would not be allowed to destabilise the hard earned peace and security of Punjab. Such attempts will fail miserably and miscreants will be apprehended soon, he added.
