Corona impact: Punjab becomes the first state to clamp curfew to prevent spread of the virus

The decision was taken by the Punjab chief minister after reviewing the situation with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP)

A curfew was clamped across Punjab after general public failed to cooperate with the government during 'Janta curfew' on Sunday.

The Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh issued the order to clamp curfew across the state with immediate effect till further order.

The decision was taken by the CM after reviewing the situation with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP). There will be no relaxations during the curfew, as per the reports.


A senior functioary of the government  informed that the DCs have been asked to issue orders accordingly. Any person required to be given relaxation will be so allowed specifically for a given period and purpose.

With this Punjab has become the first state to clamp a complete curfew in the state in the wake of coronavirus.
