43 in Haryana, 33 cases in Gurugram in 24 hrs

Cases of coronavirus spurted in Gurugram with 33 new cases appearing in the last 24 hours.

Alarmingly, 12 of them are police personnel deployed on Covid duty in different containment zones. Besides, 21 patients were found infected after they came in contact with high risk earlier detected patients.

The relaxation in lockdown is adversely affecting common citizens of Gurugram as 118 positive cases appeared first 8 days of lockdown 4.0.

Dead bats create panic in Gorakhpur's Belghat area

A large number of bats were found dead in Gorakhpur's Belghat area on Tuesday morning, triggering panic among residents.

The villagers were apprehensive as bats have been linked to the raging coronavirus pandemic, but forest officials said that prima facie it appears the animals died due to excessive heat.

The bat carcasses were sent to Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly for examination to know the exact reason behind their death, they said.

"I noticed many bats lying dead near a mango tree in my orchard this morning. Adjacent to mine is Dhruv Narayan Shahi's orchard. We noticed that a large number of bats were lying lifeless and many more were dying," Pankaj Shahi of Belghat said.

Nepal plans to increase COVID-19 testing

Due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal, the country has planned to increase testing for the virus substantially to identify the infection early, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said.

In an televised address to the nation on Monday evening, Oli said that the government planned to conduct a test among 2 per cent of the country's total population, reports Xinhua news agency.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the estimated population of Nepal as of Monday stands at 29.96 million.
