Gunfight underway between terrorists and security forces in J&K's Shopian district
An exchange of fire begins between terrorists and a joint team of security forces in the forest area of Yarwan area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir.
After receiving information about the presence of militants in the Yarwan forests of Keller area, the security forces launched a search operation.
As the security forces tightened the cordon, the militants started firing which triggered the ongoing gunfight, police sources said.
Four hours after disruption, services restored on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line
Services were restored on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line on Tuesday nearly four hours after a technical glitch on a section of the corridor left thousands of commuters stranded.
The train services were hit around 9.32 am due to breakdown of the overhead wire (OHE) at Sultanpur station, leading to tripping of power supply in the section, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials said.
Rush-hour commuters were left hassled as trains were temporarily run in two loops -- between Huda City Centre and Sultanpur and between Samaypur Badli and Qutub Minar.

Maratha students seeking SEBC quota withdraw stir
Several post-graduate medical students withdrew their protest on Tuesday after the Maharashtra governor signed an ordinance to provide quota to the Maratha community members under the Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) category.
Around 250 students were sitting on a protest at the Azad Maidan here for the last two weeks, after the Bombay High Court earlier this month ruled that the 16 per cent quota offered to Marathas will not be applicable on admissions to post-graduate (PG) medical courses this year.
Later, when the Supreme Court also upheld the HC ruling, leading to cancellation of admissions granted to 253 students, the state government took the ordinance route.
9 held for selling drugs meant for defence, ESIC hospitals
The Navi Mumbai police in Maharashtra claimed to have busted an inter-state racket of illegal sale of medicines meant for defence and ESIC hospitals and arrested nine people, an official said on Tuesday.
The accused allegedly procured an anti-diabetic medicine, Galvus 50 mg manufactured by Novartis company, for sale in the retail market by erasing its stamp mentioning 'for defence' and 'not for sale', Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said in a release.
Restrictions in parts of Srinagar ahead of proposed march by separatists

SC stays Delhi HC order disallowing black money law to operate retrospectively
The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the Delhi High Court order which had held that the 2016 black money law cannot be allowed to operate with retrospective effect from July 2015 to book and probe offenders.
A vacation bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra also stayed the May 16 order of the high court, which had restrained the Income Tax (I-T) department from taking any action against VVIP chopper scam accused Gautam Khaitan, against whom a black money case has been lodged.
"Notice. The impugned order (of the high court) is stayed," the bench said while agreeing to hear the appeal of the Centre against the high court order.

A 20-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in Palghar district of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.
The offence came to light some days back when doctors found that she was pregnant, a police spokesperson said.
The victim was allegedly raped on several occasions in the last two-and-a-half months by the man at her home in Vasai area here when her parents, who are labourers, went out for work, he said.

Sensex rises over 200 pts to hit record high in early trade
The benchmark BSE Sensex jumped over 200 points to hit a record intra-day high of 39,565.82 as investors' euphoria over exit poll outcome continued in early session on Tuesday.
The 30-share index was trading 205.24 points, or 0.52 per cent, higher at 39,557.91.
In similar movement, the broader NSE Nifty rose 48.90 points, or 0.41 per cent, to 11,877.15.
In the previous session, the Sensex ended 1,421.90 points, or 3.75 per cent, higher at 39,352.67, and the Nifty soared 421.10 points, or 3.69 per cent, to 11,828.25.
