The eight northeastern states registered 65,882 COVID-19 positive cases with 174 people succumbing to the disease so far, Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs said on Thursday.
According to the figures from the Ministry, Assam tops with 50,445 coronavirus cases and 121 deaths.
As the deadly virus spreads rapidly across the country including the northeastern region of India, there are three states -- Mizoram (537), Sikkim (800) and Meghalaya (929) -- where there are less than 1,000 positive cases found so far.
As on Thursday, of the 65,882 nCoV positive cases reported in the eight states - Assam has the highest 50,445 cases followed by Tripura (5,725), Manipur (3,093), Nagaland (2,498), Arunachal Pradesh (1,855), Meghalaya (929), Sikkim (800) and Mizoram (537). A total of 21,347 are active cases in the eight states and 44,361 people have recovered from the disease.

UP villagers forced to evacuate as rivers rise
Residents of dozens of villages have been forced to evacuate and shift to flood relief camps, after huge amount of water was released from upstream dams and barrages into the Sharda, Ghaghara and Mohana rivers.
The most affected village is Raini in Dhaurahra tehsil. Most of its houses and nearly all standing crops have been destroyed by flood waters, affecting 110 families who have been relocated to relief camps.
The district administration is distributing ration kits to all families affected by floods and has also advised sugar mills to immediately clear sugarcane dues of farmers belonging to the affected villages.
Medical check-ups of people staying in flood relief camps are being carried out and they are being asked to maintain social distancing.
Four missing minor girls found, sent back home
Four minor girls, three of them from the same family and two of them aged 2 and 3 years, who had gone missing from Ahmadgarh town near here, were traced in Aligarh on Wednesday.
Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Singh said the four had ventured out of their homes in Ahmadgarh on Tuesday afternoon to go to their maternal grandparents in Aligarh.
The SSP said a 14-year-old girl started from Ahmadgarh for Aligarh, nearly 45 km away, along with her friend of the same age and her two toddler sisters.
