BJP leader Kalyan Singh has been granted bail by a Uttar Pradesh court in Babri Masjid demolition case on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh, his lawyer said.
Kalyan Singh was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh when Babri Masjid was demolished by a Hindutva mob on December 6, 1992. The Kalyan Singh government is accused of conniving with the karsevaks and did nothing to stop the demolition despite the Supreme Court’s orders to maintain the status quo at the site since the matter was sub judice.
