A Gorakhpur bound IndiGo Airbus 320 Neo aircraft made an emergency landing at Varanasi Airport on sunday as the aircraft developed some snag. The plane was flying from Hyderabad to Gorakhpur.

Eminent jurist and former Union law minister Ram Jethmalani was cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium in New Delhi on Sunday in the presence of family members, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, prominent politicians and friends.

His son Mahesh Jethmalani, a senior advocate himself, lit the funeral pyre at 5:30 pm. The 95-year-old had passed away this morning.

A SpiceJet flight on way from Chennai to Kolkata had to be diverted to Bhubaneswar on Sunday after a 48-year-old passenger fell sick, officials said, adding that he later died.

Ashok Kumar Sharma complained of breathing problem soon after SpiceJet flight SG-623, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, took off from Chennai and a medical emergency was declared.

The pilot requested for an ambulance and a doctor on arrival which was made available, a SpiceJet spokesperson said. He was taken to a medical room at the airport soon after the plane landed, Bhubaneswar Airport Director S C Hota said.

Sharma was then rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he said.

A young man died while two other persons suffered injuries in a stampede when police lathicharged a crowd gathered to see Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath arrive in a helicopter in Ambedkar Nagar district of the state.

An illicit liquor manufacturing unit was busted here and five persons were arrested in this connection, police said.

As many as 468 bottles of illicit liquor, 100 litres of spirit and other items used in the manufacturing were seized from the premises near Sujru Chungi here during the raids conducted.

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday condoled the demise of Ram Jethmalani, saying in his death India has lost an eminent jurist, an able administrator and a seasoned parliamentarian.

Eminent jurist and former Union minister Jethmalani passed away on Sunday at the age of 95, his family members said. He was not keeping well for a few months.
