The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday granted interim bail to Nalin Yadav and Sadakat Khan who were arrested along with comedian Munawar Faruqui in the case registered against them by the police for allegedly insulting religious sentiments.

Bail was granted to them by Justice Rohit Arya in light of the judgment passed by the Supreme Court on February 5 granting bail to Munawar Faruqui, Bar & Bench reported.

Earlier, the District and Sessions court at Indore had on February 9 rejected the bail application moved by Khan, who has been in custody since January 1, 2021.

Sadakat and Yadav, who were arrested along with the comedian Faruqui, Edwin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas and Priyam Vyas have been charged for offences under Sections 295A, 298, 269, 188 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Justice Arya had earlier granted bail to two other co-accused, Prakhar Vyas and Edwin Anthony on February 12. This was also in the light of the judgment passed by the Supreme Court on February 5 granting bail to Faruqui.

The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Munawar on February 5 after which the others accused filed their bail application before the concerned courts.
