Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja has accused the BJP of political vendetta for registering a FIR on the basis of a BJP worker’s complaint against Indian National Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Selja termed it as ‘a new low in politics by the BJP’ on a day when the entire nation was remembering the supreme sacrifice of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Selja said this was another example of the BJP's skewed thinking, adding that Sonia Gandhi, the idol of renunciation, had served the country after the sacrifice of her husband.

No one had imagined that in a bid to distract attention from its failures on all fronts the BJP will stoop to such low levels and conspire against Mrs Gandhi, she said.

“The Congress party strongly condemns this,” Selja said, adding that the entire nation was fighting its battle against the Corona pandemic with solidarity and the Congress Party, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, was continuously working to extend all possible help to the people.

“The BJP has been completely baffled by the exemplary relief work being carried out by the Congress workers on the directions of Mrs Gandhi. Arrangements have also been made by the state units of the party on the direction of Mrs Gandhi to provide transportation facility to millions of workers so that they could reach their homes. These steps being taken in the public interest have brought happiness on the faces of millions of poor, workers and generated some hope in the needy people of the country. But even at this time of national crisis, the BJP was not deterring from agenda setting, politics of hate and vendetta,” Selja said.
