Rajdeep Singh, on whose scooter the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi took a ride when her convoy was stopped by the Uttar Pradesh police during her visit to the residence of the retired IPS officer SR Darapuri, has said that he himself will pay the fine clamped on him. He was fined ₹6,100 for not wearing a helmet.

"I was going towards Polytechnic crossing when I saw Priyanka and Dheeraj Gurjar. Dheeraj requested for my scooter because Priyanka belongs to such a big family. I could not refuse to give her my vehicle,” said Singh.

“On December 29, I got to know about the challan from the news. The challan amount was ₹6,300. I will pay challan amount myself. I cannot take the challan amount from Priyanka or Congress," Singh told the news agency ANI.

The incident took place on December 28, 2019, when Priyanka was stopped by the UP police. She then started walking on foot towards the residence. But the UP police allegedly manhandled her grabbing by her neck. Unfazed by all the odds she then continued her journey by riding pillion on a two-wheeler.

The challan was slammed on the scooter owner for not wearing helmets who drove the two-wheeler for almost 2km in 30 minutes with Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday evening.
