Tamil Nadu Forest Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan created an outrage after being seen in a video, asking a tribal boy to remove his footwear in Nilgiris district of the state.

Sreenivasan had gone there to inaugurate the rejuvenation camp for captive elephants in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. The minister asked two minor boys, who were tribal residents, to remove his slippers so that he could enter a shrine.

A member of the minister’s entourage asked the boys to pick up the minister’s footwear and keep it at the shrine’s entrance.

Netizens on Twitter criticised the minister’s racist behaviour.

One of them commented, “Shame. Unacceptable.@OfficeOfOPS @CMOTamilNadu will take any actions? Or do you support such nonsense?

“TN Govt....Dismiss this minister immediately,” another user wrote.
