UP crime: Journalist shot in Ghaziabad, attack captured in CCTV

A journalist was shot at in Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad, UP after he filed a complaint to the police about his niece being harassed by a group of men

A journalist was shot at in Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad, UP on Monday night by a group of men who assaulted and and opened fire at him, a report in NDTV said.

The journalist is identified as Vikram Joshi was travelling on a motor cycle with his two daughters, the whole incident was captured by a CCTV nearby.


The victim received bullet injury on his head and is in critical condition in a private hospital.

According to the police the attack on Joshi took place after he filed a complaint to the police about his niece being harassed by a group of men.

In CCTV footage the journalist was seen riding his bike with his two daughters. After a while thebike can be seen changing directions abruptly, a group of men surrounded Joshi and started hitting him.

Joshi’s daughters were seen running away the moment bike falls.


Although the shooting is unclear in the footage but the accused were seen dragging and hitting him before they ran away from the spot.

The attack on Vikram Joshi happened areound 10:30 in the night.

Five accused have been arrested in connection with the case in which a journalist was shot at by unknown persons in Vijay Nagar. Joshi's brother informed us that he was attacked while returning from his sister's place yesterday, senior police officer Kalanidhi Naithani said.
