Reacting sharply to the sudden dissolution of the Telangana state Assembly, the Congress alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was working as a stooge of the BJP.

Slamming the KCR government for disrespecting the people’s mandate, head of the Congress media cell Randeep Surjewala said that KCR is working as a puppet of the Modi government. He dissolved the state assembly at the direction of the BJP, alleged Surjewala.

On the question of the alliance, the Congress said it is open to forge an alliance with like-minded parties. However, some media reports suggested that the party has been exploring alliances with TDP, Left and a small regional outfit

Recalling that the demand for a separate Telangana state was fulfilled by the Congress-led UPA government, Surjewala said the Modi government has done nothing for the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

“UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had accepted the decade-old demand for the creation of a separate Telangana state. The then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced a special package for the people of Andhra Pradesh so that they didn’t suffer after the bifurcation. What good has Modi done in the last four years for the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh except deceiving and cheating them,” said Surjewala.

Congress’ Telangana in-charge KC Khuntia on Thursday announced that the party will go to the poll with the slogan “Remove KCR and save Telangana”.

Terming the upcoming Assembly election as “a contest between people of Telangana and KCR family”, Khuntia said, “KCR was afraid of the disgruntled youth in the state and wanted to hold the elections before the revision of electoral rolls in December, which would have added 13 lakh young voters.”

Accusing KCR of being hand-in-glove with the Modi government, the Congress has emphasised that the party will seek a thorough review of the electoral rolls also.

Congress stated that KCR presided over the “most corrupt government” of the country. The party alleged that almost all the developmental projects in Telangana were cleared only after KCR’s family received a commission.

On the question of the alliance, the Congress said it is open to forge an alliance with like-minded parties. However, some media reports suggested that the party has been exploring alliances with TDP, Left and a small regional outfit.
