Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blamed the central government for yesterday’s I-T raids on Bollywood celebs Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap. Rahul Gandhi attacked the Modi government with three famous idioms and also explained the metaphorical meaning behind them.

He used the hashtag 'ModiRaidsProFarmers' with his tweet in Hindi to take a dig at the government. He said the Centre is targeting those who are supporting farmers and controlling the agencies such as the Income Tax Department, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The Congress leader tweeted: ‘Ungaliyon par nachaana’ – central government does this with IT Dept-ED-CBI [Income Tax Department-Enforcement Directorate-Central Bureau of Investigation].”

‘Bheegee billee banana’ – friendly media in front of the central government

‘Khisiyaanee billee khamba noche’ – like the central government raids the supporters of farmers.”

Rahul Gandhi’s comments came a day after the Income Tax Department searched the properties of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actor Taapsee Pannu.

The searches against Pannu and Kashyap as well as his partners who launched the now-shuttered production house Phantom Films were carried out across 30 locations in Mumbai and Pune on February 3. They were part of a tax evasion probe against Phantom Films.

Kashyap and Pannu have been strongly critical of the government’s policies. Most recently, Pannu had hit out at the Centre for its attempts to counter the international attention towards the farmers’ months-long protest against the agricultural laws.
