Actor Sonu Sood has been honored with a temple by the residents of a Telangana village. Located in Dubba Tanda village of Telangana, the temple has been built to recognise the humanitarian work done by the Bollywood star amid the Covid-19 outbreak. The temple with an idol of the Happy New Year star was inaugurated on December 20 in the presence of the sculptor and local people.

Actor Sonu Sood emerged as a real-life hero and a savior for millions of workers when the country witnessed the heartbreaking migrant crisis. From there on, Sood has relentlessly helped people throughout the country who reached out to him through social media.

He is a God for us, says locals

At the temple inauguration, a local resident said, "He helped so many people during the pandemic. It is a matter of great delight for us that we've constructed his temple."

Giri Kondal Reddy, a Zila Parishad member praised Sonu Sood for his humanitarian activities and said: "As he has attained the place of God by his good deeds, we have built a temple for Sonu Sood. He is a God for us."

Villagers performed aarti and folk songs at the temple

The villagers were exhilarated while inaugurating the temple for the Bollywood star and performed aarti. They also wore traditional attires and sang folk songs at the temple. The locals also raised slogans for Sood and praised him for his work.

An extremely overwhelming moment, says Sood

Reacting to the news, Sood took to his official Twitter to handle to thank residents of Dubba Tanda village. He shared some pictures of his temple and wrote: “Don’t deserve this sir. Humbled.”

The 47-year-old actor has been helping people reaching out to him through social media. Notably, Sood helped scores of countrymen coming from the underprivileged section by arranging safe road travel for migrants stuck in various parts of the country to reach their native places.

He later launched a job portal for the migrant laborers by collaborating with several employment providers. Earlier this month, he mortgaged some of his properties in Mumbai to raise Rs. 10 crores to help the underprivileged.
