Kamal Haasan, AIADMK leaders visit ailing DMK chief M Karunanidhi
Expelled from DMK, elder son MK Alagiri too paid a visit as DMK President M Karunanidhi is currently being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection. Centre also offered necessary assistance
DMK President M Karunanidhi (94) is suffering from urinary tract infection and is being treated at home, said the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai, which is monitoring his health.
Keeping political rivalries aside, senior AIADMK leaders and Kamal Haasan paid a visit to ‘Kalaignar’.
Expelled DMK leader and elder son of Karunanidhi, MK Alagiri paid a visit to his ailing father, who is being given a hospital level treatment at his home in Gopalapuram, reported ANI.
Offering necessary assistance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too called up MK Stalin, Karunanidhi’s younger son and the working president of DMK, and Karunanidhi’s daughter MK Kanimozhi to enquire about the health of the DMK President. "Spoke to Thiru MK Stalin and Kanimozhi. Enquired about the health of Karunanidhiji and offered any assistance required. I pray for his quick recovery and good health," Modi tweeted.
In a statement, Kauvery Hospital's Executive Director Aravindan Selvaraj said there has been a slight decline in Karunanidhi's health due to age-related ailments.
"He is currently being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection with intravenous antibiotics and fluids. He is being monitored and treated round the clock by a team of medical and nursing professionals, who are providing hospital-level care at his home," Selvaraj said.
He said considering Karunanidhi's health condition, the doctors attending on him have strongly advised restriction of visitors.
Recently Karunanidhi was admitted to Kauvery Hospital for change of the tracheostomy tube.
