The Congress has slammed the BJP for playing politics over the issue of Palghar incident where three people were lynched by the mob. It is said that the brutal incident happened amidst police presence as the mob overpowered the police and beat up the victims.

"BJP is playing politics at very disturbing moment in society's history and the Congress will issue a detailed statement on it." said Jairam Ramesh.

The Congress is a coalition partner in the government in Maharashtra where the incident took place.


In Palghar, three people were lynched over rumours of them being kidnappers on Thursday.

Swami Kalpvriksha Giri, Swami Sushil Giri and their driver Neelesh Telgade were attacked and killed on Thursday night after rumours spread that they were kidnapping children to harvest organs, including kidneys.

The police reached the spot and when they put the victims in the police vehicle, the mob attacked them again. Policemen have also been injured in the incident. Though all three were finally brought to the hospital, they were declared brought dead.

More than 110 people have been arrested in this connection.
