Indian cricket fan in Odisha consumes poison after defeat against Kiwis

A cricket fan allegedly attempted suicide after Men in Blue failed to win the World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand in Manchester, England.

According to a report in Odisha’s OTV, the incident took place in Kalahandi’s Singhabadi village. The man has not been identified so far. Latest reports state that the man allegedly consumed poison after India was defeated. He was rushed to a local hospital where his condition is said to be critical. The man is undergoing treatment at Bhawanipatna headquarters hospital, the OTV report said.

Chief District Medical Officer, Banalata Devi says,"the youth was diagnosed with poison in his stomach. He is stable is now and is out of danger.

The defeat at Manchester ended India’s World Cup campaign. Social media went crazy with angry memes, posts and messages by fans.

One of the twitterati Abhradeep Saha, blasted the ‘Men in Blue’ for the poor show. The angry fan captioned the video, “I am shocked and speechless….!!!! Team India loses to New Zealand in cricket world cup….!!!”
