Security was beefed up at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday evening following an email threat -from an anonymous ID- about a bomb attack during the high profile IPL game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.

Confirming the news, Snehashis Ganguly, President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) told mediapersons that they had received a email from an anonymous ID and immediately informed the Kolkata Police headquarters. An additional number of security personnel were on the job while sniffer dog squads were also at hand at the car parking lot in front of the stadium.

This was the first IPL game after the Operation Sindoor by Indian Army in the PoK region in retaliation of the terro attack on tourists in Pahalgam on 22 April. The BCCI, along with the two teams in fray, honoured the role of Indian soldiers and lined up for the national game in a rare gesture.
