The festival of Lohri was celebrated by Bollywood and television celebrities in Mumbai. The event was organised by Charan Singh Sapra, the President of the NGO Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board and was attended by many celebrities like Rajkummar Rao, Tusshar Kapoor, Anu Malik and Aparshakti Khurana. Actor and comedian Kapil Sharma with his wife Gini Sharma were also seen celebrating their first Lohri together.

People were seen enjoying the traditional songs sung by playback singer Tarannum Malik.

Sapra also spoke about the importance of Lohri and how every Punjabi feels connected because of such a festival. The PCHB celebrates Lohri every year to promote the Rich Heritage & Culture of Punjab amongst the younger generation. Sapra remembered his own childhood memories of of celebrating Lohri. Music composer Anu Malik also sang a few songs on the request of his fans.

Actor Tusshar Kapoor said, “Lohri signals the end of winter and the advent of spring so the celebration reflects warmth”.

People were seen gathering round the bonfire throwing sweets, puffed rice and popcorn into the flames, singing popular songs and exchanging greetings with each other.
