The film has been beaten by Hollywood horror movie Annabelle: Creation. Directd by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Bareilly is getting mixed reviews. According to Rediff.com, watching Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Bareilly Ki Barfi is like watching an Irish Drinking Song being performed for two plus hours. This slender yet joyous film introduces so many fresh insanities and has such an endless stream of wisecracking -- full of rhymes, segues, and twisted phrases -- that it takes on shades of a running ballad. The script has an energy that seems to have sent all the actors over the rainbow and out they slide from the other end, with their characters’ daze firmly fixed inside them.

However, it is expected that the film will bring more audience in the coming days.

Gulzar, who has celebrated his 83rd birthday on Friday, is one of the most prominent and prolific names in Hindi cinema. In a treat for Gulzar fans on his 83rd birthday, his unreleased film “Libaas” is all set to hit the big screen this year. The unreleased title, made in 1988, was languishing in the archives of the Directorate of Film Festivals.

The plot of the film, which features veteran actors such Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, is based on Gulzar’s own short story Seema from his Raavi Paar collection.

The story revolves around theatre director Sudhir (Shah) and his actor wife Seema (Azmi). Their life appears picture perfect, but appearances are often deceptive in the world of showbiz. Libaas was shown at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa after a gap of 22 years on November 22, 2014.

It was also screened at the International Film Festival at Bangalore in January 1992. The movie also features Raj Babbar, Sushma Seth, Utpal Dutt, Annu Kapoor and Savita Bajaj.
