China has banned Canadian pop icon Justin Bieber from performing in the country because of his on and off-stage antics.

Bieber will visit Asia later this year as part of his Purpose World Tour with shows scheduled in Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong.

According to the website, Beijing’s Culture Bureau said: “Justin Bieber is a gifted singer but he is also a controversial young foreign singer. As far as we are concerned, he has engaged in a series of bad behaviour, both in his social life and during a previous performance in China, which caused discontent among the public.”

Earlier, Justin had performed in China in 2013, raising eyebrows when he was photographed being carried up the Great Wall of China by his bodyguards.

The Gujarat High Court on Friday put an interim stay on criminal proceedings against Shah Rukh Khan for his alleged role in triggering a melee at Vadodara railway station while promoting his film Raees, during which a man had died of heart attack.

The actor was granted the relief by Justice A J Desai, who also stayed the Vadodara court summons to him, seeking his presence before it on July 23 to answer the charges of his culpability in the case.

Shah Rukh’s lawyer apprised the court of the case and pleaded that he was not responsible for the ruckus. After granting an interim stay on proceedings against Khan, the high court fixed September 25 as the next date to hear his plea.

The ruckus at platform had left one Fahreed Khan dead and several others injured, besides causing damages to the railway property.

Basu Chatterje’s 1976 hit romantic comedy film Chhoti Si Baat is all set to spread its magic again as the director Kapil Chopra is coming up with the remake of the film.

“We are working on the remake version of Chhoti Si Baat. It's a nice story. It is too early to talk about casting for this film. For us content is most important. We cast actors according to the requirement of the script,” said Kapil.

Directed by Chatterjee, Chhoti Si Baat is considered one of the best Hindi comedy films of the 1970s. It starred Amol Palekar, Vidya Sinha, Ashok Kumar and Asrani besides Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Hema Malini in cameo appearances.

Kapil along with his brother Abhay Chopra are making films under the banner of BR Films. Their first film to be out on the big screen will be Bareilly Ki Barfi, followed by Abhay’s directorial venture Ittefaq remake and a couple of more projects are in the pipeline.
