Entertainment: Nawazuddin faces racism in film industry

The versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui hinted at having a run-in with racism through his cryptic Tweet

Nawazuddin Siddiqui may have attained the status of one of the most talented and versatile actors in Bollywood, but it seems that he is still facing a tough time in the industry because of his unconventional looks.

In a cryptic tweet, that the 43-year-old actor posted on Twitter, he hinted at having a run-in with racism recently.

The actor, however, did not divulge any further details regarding the incident which prompted him to write the post on Twitter.

Last year in an interview, Nawazuddin had praised the film industry for giving priority to talent over good looks. He had claimed that there is no racism in Bollywood.

The poster of the film Gandhi’s Memorabalia was launched on Monday. The film will be based on the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi, it will reveal various unknown aspects of his life.

The film is another project by the makers of award-winning 2016 film Mantostaan. According to TOI reports, “The main aim behind this film is to showcase various sides of Mahatma Gandhi. We want to tell all his ideologies not only non-violence -which most filmmakers talk about. We will tell his thoughts behind whatever he did. It’s an in-depth analysis of his life,” Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh, who will direct the film.

“ I have received various honours, including Limca Book of Records and Guinness World Records, for my collections on Gandhi. I have done PhD in Gandhian thoughts. I am not a follower, I do analysis of his work. This film will be made with an unbiased approach.” he added.

The trailer of the film will be released on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, while the film will be released in India and the US on January 30, 2018.

Gandhi’s Memorabalia is a low-budget project and it will release in 300-400 screens in India. The director is planning another big budget film on Gandhi, which will be released in 2019 on his 150th birth anniversary.
