I am blessed to have my first film to be a Rohit Shetty directorial, says actress Sofiya Khan

I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I completed my 12th and decided to become a fashion designer while doing graduation. I never had any thoughts of becoming an actor. It just happened through time. I got to work with many celebrities during my projects as a stylist in the entertainment zone. And slowly I lost interest in styling & my focus shifted to acting. One day I just randomly went for an audition which was suggested to me through a friend and luckily got selected in my first audition itself.

It was a dream come true! It was so amazing! I was fortunate enough to receive so much information with the first film itself. So it was a learning experience, and it was fun as well.

I never had any plans to get into acting. I was into fashion designing & styling more. It's just something like my interest grew towards acting and when I got the opportunity, I went for the same and it worked for me.

Honestly, I just want to act. I want to explore my craft as an actor So I would personally like to play challenging characters for sure. And at the same time, I am very much eager to work in the south industry since I am half South Indian.

There were no difficulties entering Bollywood as I was never into acting. But yes, there is the struggle of getting auditions for a character and getting cleared as there is so much competition.

I got this audition call from the casting director Gaurav shah. I am so grateful to him in fact. I feel he’s lucky for me since he was also the casting director of my first advertisement as well.

I am blessed that my first film is a Rohit Shetty directorial.  Rohit sir is the most loved director in our Indian film industry and he’s the most down to earth and humble person.

Each person from Rohit Sir’s direction team, my co-actors and even the crew were amazing people to work with. It was an amazing experience and I will always remember it as it was my first film.
