Newcomers to rock Bollywood in 2018

A mix of star kids, TV actors and actors from regional cinema are going to make their debut in the second half of the year. A look at who they are:

The year 2018 is an eventful year for the newcomers of Bollywood. While Dhadak, starring debutante Janhvi Kapoor and Ishan Khatter created a flutter at the box office, many others are set to make their debuts later this year. They are a mix of star kids, TV actors and actors from regional cinema. While Malayali actor Mamooty’s son Dulquer has already proven himself in Malayali cinema, Mouni Roy has faced both flak and applause for her roles in TV serials Naagin and Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan is already a star without even a single film in her kitty.

Dulquer SalmanKarwaan

He is the younger son of actor Mamooty and has about 27 South films to his credit. The actor makes his debut in Akarsh Khurana’s directorial debut Karwaan that costars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar who is known for Girl in the City web series. He was offered Manmarziyan by Anurag Kashyap which unfortunately did not materialise and Abhishek Bachchan replaced him in the film. Dulqer Salman’s next Hindi film will be The Zoya Factor with Sonam Kapoor.

Mouni RoyGold

She has been a TV star for nearly 11 years and shot to fame with Devo Ke Dev Mahadev show. The Bengali actress who later became famous as Nagin makes her film debut with Gold opposite Akshay Kumar. The film is slated for release on August 15.

Jassi GillHappy Phir Bhaag Jayegi

He is a Punjabi Singer and actor who makes his Bollywood debut with Happy Phir Bhaag Jayegi—a sequel to the 2016 release. He stars opposite Sonakshi Sinha and the film is directed by Mudassar Aziz. He made his acting debut with Mr and Mrs 420 followed by Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar.

Radhika MadanPathaaka

She is a TV actress who makes her debut in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Pathaaka that co stars Sanya Malhotra of Dangal fame. It is a comedy drama that has comedian Sunil Grover and Vijay Raaz playing the male leads.
The film is slated for a September 28 release.

Utkarsh SharmaGenius

He is film director Anil Sharma’s son who makes his debut as a hero in Genius. Utkarsh has directed and acted in short films. He made his acting debut as a child actor in Gadar where he played Sunny Deol’s son Jeete. The film has Mithun Chakraborty and Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing pivotal roles.

While Malayali actor Mamooty’s son Dulquer has already proven himself in Malayalam cinema, Mouni Roy has faced both flak and applause for her roles in TV serials Naagin and Devon Ke Dev Mahadev.

Digangna SuryavanshiJalebi

She shot to fame with TV show Veera in which she played the title role. She is also a writer and wrote a book at the age of 17. She makes her debut in Mahesh Bhatt’s Jalebi which is a love triangle directed by Pushpdeep Bhardwaj. The film also has Rhea Chakraborty and Varun Mitra. The film is slated for release on October 12.

Aayush SharmaLoveratri

Salman Khan’s brother-in-law makes his acting debut in Loveratri. The film also has another newcomer Warina Hussein who plays the heroine in the film. Aayush has trained as an actor and has assisted in films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tubelight. Loveratri releases on October 5.

Sara Ali KhanKedarnath

She is Saif Ali Khan’s daughter who has begun shooting for her second film Simmba even before her Kedarnath releases. Kedarnath is directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. Sara will have two releases in two months. Kedarnath is slated for release on November 30 and Simmba for December 28.

Karan DeolPal Pal Dil Ke Paas

He is Sunny Deol’s son and makes his debut in Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas directed by Sunny Deol. The film is a young love story set in the hilly region. The film is slated for an October 5 release.

Ananya PandeyStudent of the Year 2

She is the daughter of actor Chunky Pandey who starred in films like Aankhein and Tezaab. The film is slated for a November 23 release. It is learnt that Ananya has also been offered a lot of films but is waiting for SOTY 2 to release.

Tara SutariaStudent of the Year 2

She started her career as VJ with Disney Channel’s Big Bada Boom in 2010. She has been a model, actor and singer and acted in sitcoms like Oye Jassie and The Suite Life of Karan and Kabir. She makes her Bollywood debut with Student of the Year 2 opposite Tiger Shroff. It is slated for a November 23 release.
