Priyanka Chopra to play Maa Anand Sheela

Priyanka Chopra will be starring and producing the feature film on Maa Sheela which will be directed by Academy Award winning American director Barry Levinson

Priyanka Chopra is planning to play Maa Anand Sheela, the controversial Indian-born American–Swiss former spokeswoman of the Rajneesh movement. The actress spoke about starring and producing the feature to be directed by American director Barry Levinson.

Priyanka Chopra said, “we are developing it as the character of Sheela who was the right-hand woman of the controversial Guru Osho.

She managed the Rajneeshpuram ashram in Wasco County, Oregon, United States and created a whole cult in America. In 1985 she pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault for her role in the 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack. She was sentenced to 20 years .

Wild Wild Country, a Netflix series based on the Osho and Maa Sheela was highly appreciated by the viewers though some of Osho followers did get upset.

A number of Bollywood celebrities have been the followers of Osho including Vinod khanna, mahesh bhatt and Parveen Babi

Karan Johar is also planning a web series on Maa Anand Sheela with Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt in it.

Rajneesh, also known as Acharya Rajneesh, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and as Osho was a controversial spiritual guru of India who still has and ardent following. There have been several documentaries on Osho and  a few feature films too that include Rebellious Flower and Holy Smoke.
