Sandeepa Dhar is a young and upcoming actress who made her debut in 2010 with Isi Life Mein. A trained dancer, Sandeepa tells Raviraj Sinha she decided to become an actor because it would let her accomplish much more than being just a dancer. She says she would have been a travel writer had she not been an actor

Tell us about your journey.

I have had a very interesting and fulfilling journey till now. I debuted with Rajshree Productions which is one of the biggest production houses anyone can imagine. I worked with some amazing producers along the waylike Salman Khan in Dabangg 2, Sajid Nadiadwala in Heropanti, etc. I have had the opportunity to work with the best from our industry and I continue to do so. I feel like it’s just the beginning for me and there is a lot more to do. I am looking forward to where the journey takes me.

What do you want to achieve?

I don’t really have set goals. I am enjoying the kind of content being generated right now. I am very excited about the kind of roles being offered, the scripts I am reading. As an actor all that I want to achieve is to do as many different characters I can do, work with different directors, producers, actors and do as many interesting projects as possible and be known as a good actor.

What projects are you presently working on?

I am working on a couple of things. I have got a film called Firrkie with Neil Nitin Mukesh, KK Menon, and Jackie Shroff. Apart from that, I have also got a web series with Alt Balaji and zee 5 called Mumbai that I am currently shooting for. I am really excited about it.

By whom did you get inspired to be an actor?

There isn’t one specific person but there are a lot of actors I have grown up watching who have influenced me. To begin with, Madhuri Dixit has had a huge influence on me and not just as an actor. The performer that she is, the way she conducted herself. I was in awe of her. There are alot of them. There is Dilip Kumar sir, Amitabh Bachchan sir, Aamir Khan sir. They have been legends of the industry and they have inspired thousands to become actors, including me.

If not an actor, what will you be?

I would probably be a travel journalist, or I probably would be in film marketing or in distribution or something like that.

How was your experience working with Rajshree Productionsand Barjatya?

Working with Rajshree Productions and Barjatya was the most amazing time of my life. I am so grateful to them. I couldn’t have asked for a better beginning for my journey in the industry than the Barjatyas. They are amazingly warm-hearted. They treated me like their own child and gave me so much love. They are in a league of their own and there is no one like them. They are such an amazing bunch of people. I have so much love and respect for them. My director, Vidhi, Sooraj Ji, Raj Babu… They have shaped my opinion and thought process so much because everything that I have learned doing my time with the Barjatya family. They have taught me the importance of love in the family and how to conduct themselves in the industry. I have learned a lot from them, and I am so grateful to them.

Considering you are a trained dancer, why didn’t you opt fora full-fledged career in that?

I felt that I am not just a dancer and there is a lot more than that in me. I enjoy dancing and it’s one of my passions for sure, but I feel like there are a lot of other things that I need to explore. I don’t want to contain myself to just dancing. I act, I travel, I write. So yeah, I didn’t opt to become a choreographer or something like that because there are many facets to my personality, and I would like to explore that. There is much more than dancing in me, and I want to excel in each of my passions.
