After getting Sanskari lessons from Twitterati on wearing knee length dress in a meeting with PM Modi, Priyanka was trolled again for calling America “her second home”. On the Independence Day of the United States, the actress took to Twitter to wish her followers adding that America is her second home.

But the “Second home” post did not go well with Twitterati. And she was literally trolled on this.

Meanwhile, adding a new feather to her cap, PeeCee has now become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture of Arts & Sciences (AMPAS). The actress has praised the ongoing push for racial and gender equality in the Academy.

Following two years of sharp criticism and back-to-back ceremonies with an all-white slate of acting nominees, AMPAS last week invited a record 774 new members from 57 countries around the world to join the organisation's ranks.

Apart from Priyanka, other Indian stars who have been invited to join the Academy and vote in the Oscars include the likes of, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, filmmakers Goutam Ghose, Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Salman Khan, Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Remembering the iconic filmmaker Chetan Anand

Bollywood remembered the legendry writer and director Chetan Anand on his death anniversary on Thursday. Born and raised in Lahore, Chetan was the elder brother of Dev Anand and Vijay Anand. Anand brothers were also considered to be the leading light of the golden era of Hindi cinema.

Chetan’s debut film, Neecha Nagar, was awarded the Palme d'Or (Best Film) award at the first ever Cannes Film Festival in 1946.

He is known to be the film-maker who ‘discovered’ Rajesh Khanna from an acting competition. Khanna as a result got his first break and was cast by Anand in the film Aakhri Khat, although G.P.Sippy’s Raaz introducing Rajesh Khanna and Babita was the first ‘released’ film for Rajesh Khanna.

All India Radio also shared a post remembering the legendry filmmaker.

Apart from 17 feature films, he is also known for the acclaimed television serial, Param Vir Chakra, which was aired on Doordarshan in 1988. He is known for his films like Neecha Nagar, Taxi Driver, Hindustan Ki Kasam, Kudrat , Haathon Ki Lakeeren, Heer Ranjha.


Ranveer to get a wax statue as his birthday gift

Ranveer Singh becomes the third Bollywood star to get a statue after Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai at the Grévin in Paris, France. He is all set to be immortalised in the form of a wax, that too on his birthday.

The measurements for the statue were taken when he was shooting in Paris for his film Befikre. Here is a picture of Ranveer at the Grévin.

Speaking about it at the museum, Ranveer had said, “It’s a truly special birthday present and one that will always bring back beautiful memories of Paris. I love all things French, and am grateful to the museum that they have given me a permanent place in wax in their home and their hearts.”

Ranveer’s wax statue will be on display in one of the Grévin’s most prestigious venues, the Hall of Columns.

Gurgaon poster releases

A glimpse of the film’s poster 

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap launched the poster of Gurgaon, a noir thriller on Wednesday. The film which is inspired by true events is the directorial debut of National Award-winning cinematographer Shanker Raman.

The film revolves around the story of Kehri Singh, a real estate baron, who runs his business Preet Real Estate in his daughter's name.

Ajay G. Rai, the producer of Gurgaon and co-founder of JAR Pictures along with Alan McAlex, said: "Gurgaon is a noir thriller and a very special film for JAR Pictures. This is our fourth film to release after Liar's Dice, Killa, Nil Battey Sannata and the first film that we are releasing ourselves. We are really looking forward to the audiences’ response.”

Talking about his directorial debut which he also co-wrote, Shanker said: “This film has been built and supported by incredible talent. The fact that it is ready for a nationwide release is evidence that anything is possible when we love and support each other. Come celebrate their work and be a part of it.”

Starring Akshay Oberoi, Ragini Khanna and Pankaj Tripathi, the film is slated to hit the screens on August 4.
