Shockingly, a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production comes to movie theatres all across India this week without any pre-release publicity. The film Tuesdays & Saturdays is the debut launch film of Anmol Thakeria Dhillon and Jhataleka. Anmol is the son of actress Poonam Dhillon and producer Ashok Thakeria. His parents are apparently distressed about their son’s launch being so muted and low key.

Says a source in the know, “The film’s co-producers T Series insisted on a theatrical release when the digital platform would have served the purpose much better. Now the newcomers and their anxious parents are wondering what kind of an audience a film with two unknown faces would get in movie theatres at a time when audiences are staying away from even big-budgeted films.”

This is not the first film that Bhansali is making with newcomers in the lead. In 2007 Bhansali’s Saawariya launched Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. In 2019 Bhansali launched his niece Sharmin Sehgal opposite Jaaved Jaffri’s son Mizaan in Malaal, a film that was directed by Mangesh Hadwale

Shot entirely in London, Tuesdays & Fridays tells the story of a couple who decide to meet only on two days of the week. I guess it takes all sorts. The film is directed by debutant Taranveer Singh who served as an assistant on Ayan Mukerjee’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.
