Corona warriors are witnessing the toughest times of their lives

They are getting assaulted and abused for risking their lives to treat virus infected

As the pressure is mounting on the healthcare system, doctors and nurses are bearing the brunt

With accelerating Covid-19 cases, incidents of manhandling of doctors, paramedics are also on an increase

Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association of India has written to the Prime Minister

Association has demanded to make assault of medical professionals a non-bailable offence.

The letter followed the assault of two Resident Doctors working in AIIMS, Bhopal

The two doctors were stopped by the police when they were returning to their quarters from hospital.

Police did not listen to their explanation even after they produced their ID cards as proof.

Policemen said, doctors, were spreading the coronavirus in society and should stay indoors.

They also rained blows on them with their lathi, injuring them.

Several instances have been reported of landlords throwing out doctor tenants

People are abusing and assaulting medical professionals.

In Telangana, Dr Sudhakar, who spoke up against shortages of mask and gloves at the Narsipatnam Government Hospital was placed under suspension.

Nurses in Delhi complained that they were not being given proper accommodation for quarantine.

Authorities, they said, had asked them to use their homes to quarantine themselves.

With most of them living in two-room quarters with family and children...

...home quarantine would endanger their own lives and also could infect family members, they pointed out.

Inspite of these hardships these warriors continue with their heroic work.
