The Delhi police sources claim that they have identified 37 persons for January 5 violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University. The Special Investigation Team has identified 37 suspects from the 60-member WhatsApp group 'Unity Against Left'.

According to news agency ANI, Delhi Police sources claim that they have spotted 37 suspects for the violence that erupted on the evening of January 5. The suspects have been identified by SIT, though no names have been made official as of now.

According to a report in NDTV, around 10 of those identified so far are said to be outsiders (they are not students of the university) who participated in the brutal assault that left 34 people grievously injured.

Out of 37 individuals, one has been identified as Manish Jangid, Secretary of the ABVP's JNU unit. But Manish claims had no knowledge of being added to the group. "My phone had broken. When I got it repaired then I got to know that I had been added to the group," he said to NDTV.

This development comes a day after Delhi Police named nine suspects, including Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Aishe Ghosh, for vandalising CCTV cameras on January 3.
