Veteran Congress leader Motilal Vora passed away on Monday at the age of 93 from post-Covid complications.

Motilal Vora was admitted to the Escorts Hospital in Delhi a few days ago with a urinary infection. He also had a lung infection and was put on ventilator support.

He had been admitted at AIIMS in October after testing Covid-19 positive but was later discharged after recovering.

As new of Motilal Vora's death broke, several Congress leaders paid tributes to him.

Condoling his death, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Vora ji was a true congressman and a wonderful human being. We will miss him very much. My love & condolences to his family and friends."


"The death of Motilal Vora ji is a personal loss for every Congress worker. Vora ji was a symbol of dedication, loyalty and allegiance towards the Congress ideology," Priyanka Gandhi wrote. She recounted how dedicated Motilal Vora was as a Congressman, attending every meeting, giving his opinions on all party decisions even at the age of 92.


Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh described Vora as "one of the most decent of men who left his mark in public life".


Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, "Sorry to hear about the passing away of Motilal Vora a trusted old warhorse, a valued colleague and a dear friend who always stood by the Congress Party. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace."


Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted: “A giant is no more ! Sh. Moti Lal Vora was the epitome of commitment, dedication & loyalty. He inspired an entire generation by his untiring attitude & capacity to brave every adversity. My heartfelt homage!”


Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari tweeted: “Extremely saddened to hear about the demise of veteran Congress leader Sh #MotilalVora ji. Prayers for the departed soul & heartfelt condolences to his aggrieved family members in this difficult time. Om Shanti!”


Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "Heartfelt condolences at the demise of senior Congress leader, Sh. Motilal Vora ji. He was our senior-most leader, who spent his entire life serving the Congress Party as union minister, as Chief Minister of MP, as UP Governor, General Secretary & Treasurer of AICC."


AICC general secretary Pawan Khera tweeted: “2020 hasn’t ended yet. Sad to hear about the passing away of our veteran leader #MotiLalVora ji. A life dedicated to the @INCIndia ; a life to learn from; a life to be inspired from”


AICC general secretary KC Venugopal tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri #MotiLalVora ji, a guiding light to many of us, within Congress & beyond.His dedication towards our nation & party will inspire many generations to come. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends & followers. May his soul rest in peace”
