Four students of Allahabad University—Neha Yadav, Rama Yadav, Kishan Maurya and Mohit Yadav—launched a courageous protest in the intellectual capital of Uttar Pradesh, showing black flags to the convoy of BJP President Amit Shah, shouting slogans “Amit Shah Wapas Jao! (Amit Shah, Go back!)”. They were demanding from Amit Shah that the woes unleashed on the students of Uttar Pradesh should be put to an end.

These students of Uttar Pradesh have created a record of sorts by showing black flags to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and now BJP chief Amit Shah.

The NSG attached to Amit Shah’s convoy dragged the girl students and lathi charged them. They were pulled by the hair and were forcibly pushed into a jeep.

Former president of the Allahabad University students’ union Richa Singh told NH that the Yogi government has constantly been suppressing students’s protests. They are lathi-charged even for staging minor dharnas and demonstrations, she said. The students’ careers are being ruined by charging them in serious cases for any kind of protest or demonstration

As soon as BJP chief Amit Shah came out of the airport in Allahabad on July 27, two girl students Neha Yadav and Rama Yadav came out with black flags on the road in front of Amit Shah’s cavalcade. Till the time this report was being written, all four students were arrested and kept in the police station. A case has been registered against them under IPC section 147 and others for rioting and disturbing peace.

Talking to National Herald, former president of the Allahabad students’ union Richa Singh said that there is a lot of resentment among students due to the ruling BJP’s policies. The Yogi government has constantly been suppressing students’ protests. They are lathi-charged even for staging minor dharnas and demonstrations, she said. The students’ careers are being ruined by charging them in serious cases for any kind of protest or demonstration.

At present, youths in large numbers are being put in prison. Richa said that the arrested student Neha is a Ph.D student at Allahabad University. Rama, an alumni of AU, is currently trying to get admission in a post graduate course. Kishan and Mohit are under graduate students.

Earlier Puja Shukla, a student leader in Lucknow, was arrested because she showed black flag to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She said that the Yogi government is creating an environment of fear. Students have always been protesting against the wrong policies of the government and for demanding employment. But now fear is being spread by the government to discourage these democratic demonstrations.
