‘Am I with the Pakistani Army’? Video of IAF pilot captured by Pakistan goes viral

A video being circulated on social media shows Indian Air Force’s Wing Commander, service number 27981, being interrogated by Pakistani military persons. The video surfaces in the wake of Pakistan claiming on Wednesday that it shot down two Indian military aircraft over Pakistani air space and arrested two pilots.

While there was no official confirmation from the Indian government, news agency ANI quoted sources as saying that “IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan took off in a MiG 21 Bison jet today, he is yet to return.”

In the 46-second video released by the Pakistan Army, a blindfolded man claiming that he's IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan.

"I am an IAF officer. My service No is 27981," the man said in the video.

However, the veracity of the video could not be ascertained.

“Am I with the Pakistani Army?” the pilot with the IAF badge can be heard asking, as he refused to divulge any more information beyond his name and the service number.

Pakistani military spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor claimed that two IAF pilots were arrested.

One pilot is injured and has been shifted to a hospital, while another one is unhurt, the spokesman added.

He said one of the aircraft crashed in Pakistan occupied Kashmir while the other fell in Jammu and Kashmir.
