Ahead of the 26th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has asked Muslims to give up their claim on the “disputed land” in Ayodhya on Sunday, November 26.

The RSS-affiliated organisation asked Muslims to hand over the land to Hindus for the construction of a “grand Ram temple,” and told the Sunni Waqf Board to give up their claim over the disputed land.

Addressing the Sabha at the Badey Bhaktmaal ki Bagia, the international vice-president of the organisation, Champat Rai said that no formula which would divide the disputed land will be acceptable to Hindus.

“We want the entire land for temple construction ... no formula dividing the land is acceptable,” he added.

Although, Rai did not spell out the details, his assertions are considered to be in reference to the Allahabad High court verdict dividing the land into three parts.

Rai also said that the delay in the temple construction is not a good sign. Announcing deadline, VHP said Muslims should handover the land for Ram temple before BJP’s move for ordinance or else they will include demand for Kashi, Mathura and other temples.

Addressing the Sabha at the Badey Bhaktmaal ki Bagia, the international vice-president of the organisation, Champat Rai said that no formula which would divide the disputed land will be acceptable to Hindus.

The Allahabad High Court had ruled by a majority verdict that the disputed land in Ayodhya be divided equally into three parts among Hindus and Muslims and that the place where the makeshift temple of Lord Ram exists belongs to Hindus.

In their separate judgments on the sensitive 60-year-old title dispute on Ramjanma bhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit, Justices SU Khan and Sudhir Agarwal said that the area under the central dome of the three-domed structure where Lord Ram’s idol exists belongs to Hindus.
