In an attempt to change the narrative, according to unconfirmed sources, the Intelligence Bureau said four of their operatives, who were lurking around CBI Chief Alok Verma’s house, were doing ‘their duty’. They clarified that as an agency they are entrusted with the responsibility of collecting intelligence.
The IB has claimed that around Alok Verma’s house there was an unusual collection of people and these operatives went to check the ‘reason’ for it.
Four men were arrested outside CBI Director chief Alok Verma's home in Delhi on Wednesday morning, allegedly for suspiciously skulking around the house. The men were caught by Verma’s security guard and later taken inside the home.
Police have been called in and the men are being questioned, say sources. Unconfirmed reports suggested the men were from the Intelligence Bureau and were keeping a watch on Verma, who was abruptly sent on forced leave on Monday.
He was replaced by an interim chief days after he launched an investigation against his deputy Rakesh Asthana, accusing him of corruption.
Asthana, who has been charged in a case filed by the CBI, has also been sent on leave.
