You must have heard about several incidents of theft but it is seldom that you hear about an entire house being stolen! Not just some valuable thing being stolen but the house itself! This unique heft has taken place under the Raman Singh government of Chhattisgarh. It happened in Bilaspur where an old woman has filed a complaint about her house being stolen under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

A 60-year-old woman from Bilaspur has accused the government of not giving her the house which was allotted to her under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme. Accusing the concerned officials, the woman has alleged in her complaint that her house has been stolen. The woman said, “I have already paid two instalments for the house that was allocated to me, but till now I have no ideas where the house is.” The elderly woman explained that she lived in a mud house, but recently her mud house also collapsed after which she has no place to live. The woman has appealed to the police to conduct an enquiry as a tweet by the news agency ANI confirms:

The representative of the village Sarpanch has also demanded a probe in the charges of the elderly woman. The Sarpanch representative said that in the year 2018-19, 72 houses were allotted under the Prime Minister Housing Scheme in the village. Out of these, 71 houses have been constructed but one house is missing. This very house, the 72nd house was allotted to this old woman. The representative of the village Sarpanch said that they have apprised the police of all the details upon which the police have started an investigation.

It is important to recall here that PM Modi had announced Pradhan Matri Awas Yojana with much pomp and show on June 25, 2015 claiming that every citizen of the country will have a house by 2022. But now, this unique incident of theft of a house in Chhattisgarh has raised serious doubts over PM Modi’s much publicised housing scheme.
