The Congress party on Wednesday, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, launched its own digital media platform called ‘INC TV’ to counter propaganda and lies spread by the “pliable media”.

Head of the Congress’ media department and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that INC TV will start airing shows from April 24 which marks National Panchayati Raj Day.

Initially the channel would be live for at least 8 hours every day, said Surjewala while addressing the media at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.

The grand old party believes that INC TV will allow it to convey its message directly to the public.

Addressing the media, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and All India Congress Committee general secretary Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that BJP had made journalism ‘a trade’.

“Even Ambedkar believed that journalism had become a trade in India and it was the BJP that is proving him right today,” said Kharge.

“Dalits were suffering under BJP and every 11 minutes, there was an attack on a Dalit in India. This truth of our country has long been concealed. Our nation has the right to hear the truth. Through INC TV, we aim to bring it out,” Kharge added.

“BJP is trying to intimidate everyone…journalist, social activists, political activists…everyone is being intimidated,” Kharge said.

NSUI president Neeraj Kundan and Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev were also present at the launch event.

In February, the party had launched its ‘Join Congress Social media’ campaign.
