Congress MLAs led by former Haryana Chief Minister and leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday lodged a strong protest against the unprecedented rise in fuel prices by holding a march from ‘Road to the Assembly”.

Hooda drove a tractor to the Vidhan Sabha that was pulled by Congress MLAs with ropes to depict the plight of the common man during the BJP regime.

Party MLA Shakuntla Khatak also pulled an auto as a mark of protest against the rising prices of fuel and LPG.

When Chandigarh police tried to stop the tractor midway, Congress MLAs jostled with the police personnel. They later blocked the entries to both Haryana and Punjab Assemblies.

Talking to media persons, Hooda said that the Congress will continue to fight for the rights of farmers, against the fuel price rise and other serious issues that have derailed Haryana’s progress under the BJP-JJP rule.

Hooda said the discussion to be held on the no-confidence motion in the Haryana Assembly on March 10 would expose those claiming to be well-wishers of farmers protesting against the farm laws.

“The no-confidence motion will let people know which MLA stands with the government and which MLA stands with farmers,” he said.

The senior Congress leader also appealed to people to reach out to the MLAs of all political parties with letters urging them to vote ‘in favour of farmers’.
