The student wing of Indian National Congress, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) activists were arrested at Connought Place, Delhi while peacefully protesting against the lackadaisical attitude of the government in providing employment to people.

Accusing the Union government of not taking the issues of youth of the country seriously the NSUI in a statement said that though the failures of Narendra Modi government are many, but the worst of it is its track record in job creation. In 2019 National Sample Survey Organisation brought out a study which said that the nation is facing the largest unemployment crisis in the past 45 years. This report was purged by the government and brought out at a later period again after the General Elections.

None of the persons from the 2017 batch of selected candidates has been appointed as yet. Staff Selection Commission has not initiated the interview process of CGL 2018 examination even after six months of the announcement of SSC CGL Mains results. The Tier-II and further examinations of 2019 were never scheduled. This is happening even as there is a government notification that instructs all Ministries to finish recruitment procedures from announcement of vacancies to publication of results within six months.

The statement drew attention to the fact that The inaction by the SSC and DoPT is causing distress among the educated youth of this country. Even after the announcement of vacancies and receiving applications for Railways, NTPC back in 2018, no exam has been conducted yet. Meanwhile the government has decided to merge agencies like RRB, SSC and IBPS to form NRB.

The NSUI called the government a ‘name changer government’ instead of being a game changer one.

At the call given by NSUI President Neeraj Kundan, SSC CGL candidates joined by NSUI leaders and other concerned students assembled at Connaught Place wearing their graduation gowns expressing their anger and distress against the Narendra Modi government. During the protest, the SSC CGL candidates were detained and student leaders were arrested by the Delhi Police .

Expressing their solidarity with those youth suffering because of the mess created bt the government and subsequent lack of jobs, the NSUI leaders said that the youth of this country will give a fitting reply to this government with their votes.
