On Sunday, Pollution level in Delhi peaked to a three-year high on Sunday notwithstanding claims of heightened checks and curbs by authorities

#DelhiAirEmergency #DelhiPollution and #DelhiBachao was the top Twitter trend on Sunday.

Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party had suggested unique ways to tackle the menace of air pollution.

Environment minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted in the morning to ask Indians to start their day with music.

Javadekar tweet came after a day of tussle between the Central government and Kejriwal government on pollution. On Saturday, Union Minister had accused Delhi chief minister Kejriwal of politicising air pollution and stated that Central govt had organised interstate meetings between officials and ministers of North Indian states about the problem.

But a government document on Sunday showed that Javadekar had cancelled the previous three meetings of state environment ministers scheduled in September and October.

Union health minister Harshvardhan also tweeted some advice in the morning: Eat carrots for “help against pollution-related harm”.

Minister in Yogi government Sunil Bharala, stated that farmers have always practiced stubble burning, a major cause of atmospheric pollution as smoke from neighbouring states gathers over the capital. “It’s a natural system. Repeated criticism of it is unfortunate,” Bharala said.

He said, “Governments should hold yagnas to please Lord Indra as done traditionally. He will set things right.”

Amitabh Kant, heading Niti Aayog, said that he planned to move away from Delhi after he retired.
