Modi government which is badly trapped in the Rafale scam, CBI feud and RBI controversy, seems to have found a way out of these issues, and it is the years-old issue of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The two days deliberations of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti made it clear more than ever. Sant Samiti and Vishva Hindu Parishad are determined to use all their might so that the path to construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya becomes smoother for the Modi government before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

After two days of deliberations in Delhi in which more than two dozen major saints, Shankaracharyas and hundreds of seers from all over the country took part, the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti on Sunday, November 4 asked the union government to bring an ordinance or a law to build the temple.

Reading the ‘Dharmadesh’ in Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, the head of Sant Samiti, Hansdevacharya said, “We will not compromise on anything less than the Ram temple.” He said, we respect the government, the court and the general public, but nothing can stop the construction of the temple now. Several well-known faces associated with the RSS were seen active in the conference.

After sensing the mood in the meeting of the Sant Samiti, there is no doubt left about the fact that for the 2019 general elections, BJP, without waiting for its formal election campaign strategy, has fully prepared its parallel machinery for Modi government to come back to power. All the speakers during the meeting said in unison that It is very necessary to bring the Modi government back to power in 2019 to fulfill the dream of building Ram temple.

The Sant Samiti announced three more “dharma sabhas” — in Ayodhya, Nagpur, and Bengaluru — on November 25, and a larger congregation of sadhus in Delhi on December 9. From December 18 on wards, 500 more such meetings would be held across the country, they said. They called for lighting a lamp for Ram temple on Diwali and organising a religion ceremony for Geeta Jayanti from December 8.

Through this convention to issue ‘Dharmadesh’, the Modi government in a way has been handed over an agenda to declare the country as an outright Hindu nation. The chief of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, Hansdevacharya said, “The time has come when the national religion of India should be identified. Vote for those who have faith in the values of Hindutva. Do not vote for people who hunt cows. People should vote for those who have faith in Gaay, Ganga, Geeta, Gayatri and Govind”.

Shankaracharya Vasudevanand Saraswati said, "All those who live in this country are Hindus. Hindutva is their identity...After Ram temple, Bharat Mata Mandir, Krishna birth land and Kashinath temple are also in our agenda. Now, the name of the capital Delhi should be changed to its ancient name Indraprastha.”

“On Sabarimala, the Supreme Court has allowed women of the menstrual age. It is almost like allowing people enter temple, gurudwaras and mosques with a slipper,” he added.

Supporting the Modi government on building Ram temple in Ayodhya, he said, “The parties and organisations who kept objecting to or obstructing the construction of the Ram Mandir till now, are also now asking when the Ram temple will be built. So, what are we waiting for now?” The party can not be blamed for the delay in building Ram temple. But the sant community is “satisfied with the central government’s work related to the nation, religion, culture, national security, and national pride,”

The sadhus were told to spread this message among the people of the country that if the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya can be possible only when Modi is in Centre and Yogi is in power in Uttar Pradesh.

Acharya Avichal Das also reiterated that the dream of building a Ram temple can only be achieved by bringing Modi government back to power in the 2019 general election. It was also announced that during the Budget session next month, a rally of about 5 lakh people will be organised in Delhi with the demand for a law on Ram temple.

But before considering the assmebly elections in five states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh will take place before that, it was decided that huge religious meetings in Ayodhya, Nagpur and Bengalore will be organised on November 25 to create an atmosphere in favor of the BJP. It was decided that through these gatherings efforts will be made to create public opinion and polarise Hindus in favour of the construction of Ram temple.

Swami Vivekanand Gurukul Prabhat even preached on what technique and method should be used this time for creating an environment in favour of Ram temple. “We have to eat the kheer and not spoil our hands or mouth. We have to save our reputation and the reputation of the government too. We have to be very careful and act wisely, so that the Modi government’s credibility remains intact and our purpose is served too.” he said.

This sentence was repeated by at least six speakers in the Sant Samiti meeting and was later termed as the key statement of the meeting.

Meanwhile, a number of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ministers including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Ministers Uma Bharti and Giriraj Singh on Sunday seconded the demand by Hindu seers for an ordinance or law for construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
